NYU The Score: Sports Betting’s Grip on College Students
Did you know that over 70% of college students report they’ve placed a sports bet, with the average bettor making dozens of predictions each season?
Liberal Studies (LS) and NYU Athletics are hosting The Score: Sports Betting’s Grip on College Students, a featured conversation with sports business, law, and society expert, Kenneth L. Shropshire. He will be joined by Ryan Westman, NYU’s director of academic and student-athlete support services and compliance officer, and Malik Williams (LAW ‘19), NYU’s associate director of athletics for compliance, who will act as moderators.
This discussion will draw on perspectives from scholarship, sports competition, law, and business. They will explore how sports betting has become rampant—including who is impacted, who benefits, and insights on the way forward.
Open to the NYU community and the general public. Visitors must RSVP in advance and have a valid government ID to enter the building.

Los Angeles, Calif. has been selected to host NBA All-Star 2026. The 75th All-Star game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026 at the Intuit Dome, the new home of the LA Clippers. This will mark the record seventh NBA All-Star in the Los Angeles area, which hosted the event in 2018, 2011, 2004, 1983, 1972 and 1963, and the first time the midseason showcase has been held at the Intuit Dome.

College Football Playoff Championship
The 2025 college football season began with 136 FBS teams sharing the collective hope of winning a national championship.
Now, there are two.
The 10th-seeded Miami Hurricanes and the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers will meet for college football's ultimate prize inside Miami's Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Led by Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, Indiana seeks its first national championship in program history. Meanwhile, Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal, who won two national championships as a player at Miami in 1989 and 1991, looks to lead the program to its first title since defeating Nebraska in the 2001 championship game.
