Introducing Keepsafe by Boomerang
Introducing Keepsafe by Boomerang
Every day, guests hand over items at security that they never get back.
Our Partners had been telling us about it for a while. The multi-tool a passenger forgot was in their bag when entering a theme park aimed at family fun. The fragrance that was two ounces too big for TSA, or a lighter that can’t be brought into a concert venue. Items with real value, surrendered at a checkpoint because there was nowhere else for them to go.
Eventually enough of them asked the same question that it stopped being a suggestion and started being a roadmap. Our Partners already solved Lost & Found through Boomerang and trusted us with their guest experience. Could we handle this too?
So we did.
Today, Keepsafe is live within Boomerang’s Partner Portal alongside Lost & Found. Guests hand their item to staff, keep moving, and submit their details later from their phone. Venues review it, ship it home, or hold it for pickup. We're launching with a cohort of existing Partners we'll be announcing soon.
A natural complement to Lost & Found
Boomerang has spent years becoming the system organizations trust to reunite guests with their belongings. That's the product hundreds of organizations run today, across airports, stadiums, theme parks, and hotels.
But item recovery has more to it, and managing prohibited items was a natural complement to Boomerang’s existing lost and found platform.
The problem nobody had solved well
Nearly every organization has some kind of security entrance process, and every one of them produces the same moment: a guest arrives with something they can't bring in.
At airports, it's TSA screening. This is where the problem is most acute and most common, because passengers simply forget. The multi-tool that lives in the backpack. The full-size bottle of fragrance. The pocket knife that was a gift from someone.
At stadiums and arenas, it's entrance security and bag check, where prohibited item lists are long, strictly enforced, and often unknown to a guest until the moment they're turned away.
At theme parks, it's bag check at the gate, frequently with families who have already traveled a long way to get there.
At festivals and concerts, it's entrance security, often outdoors, often at scale, often with no practical way for a guest to return an item to a car or a hotel.
Different venues, different names, same ninety-second decision.
And often the item is genuinely valuable. Things worth real money, or worth far more through sentimental value.
Historically, the guest's options were bad. Throw it away and move on. Or find some other way, which usually means leaving the checkpoint, hunting down a mailing option, and risking the flight or the entry time.
The organization's options weren't much better. A paper form, a handwritten address, and someone on the operations team storing items, packing boxes, and often absorbing the shipping cost. Unplanned labor in service of an interaction that still ends in frustration.
Neither side wins.
What Keepsafe by Boomerang does
With Keepsafe, a guest can hand their item to staff and keep moving, then get it back later.
The whole system runs inside of the Boomerang Partner Portal that already powers Lost & Found for hundreds of organizations globally. Staff review each item and mark whether it can be shipped, and the guest is automatically notified either way. If it can ship, they're guided through paying for shipping. If it can't, they can arrange an in-person pickup or authorize someone else to collect it on their behalf. No new platform, no separate login, no parallel workflow for the venue's team.
Because it's the same system, an organization that already runs Lost & Found through Boomerang can turn Keepsafe on without retraining staff on anything new. The items appear in the portal they already use, clearly separated from Lost & Found inventory, with their own review workflow.
