PHILADELPHIA, PA - Between sports and music alone, Philadelphia has its fair share of influencers that have helped to shape the culture of the city. On Tuesday, July 23 some very notable faces, including our Partner, Ryan Howard, came together over esports for a good cause. The Philadelphia Union hosted a Pro-Am Charity FIFA Tournament Presented by Independence Blue Cross and powered by our esports portfolio company N3rd Street Gamers.

Howard and other Philly influencers, including hip-hop star Freeway, teamed up with amateur esports players to challenge members of the Philadelphia Union in a FIFA tournament. The amateurs had to bid for a chance to play in the tournament, where all proceeds were donated to charity.

I think that esports has great possibilities to do wonderful things. Now you even have the opportunity to go to college and get an education from being able to play video games.
