These medical experts are coming to Philly to talk about cancer

Technical.ly Philly by Roberto Torres

Earlier this year, when the audacious goal of curing cancer by 2020 was announced by President Barack Obama, the entire medical community instantly knew they had to hustle.

But data scientists also had their work cut out for them, too.

Dr. Howard Krein, chief medical officer of StartUp Health, will sit down this Wednesday with SeventySix Capital’s Wayne Kimmel to talk about the role technologists and data scientists will play as humanity comes together to beat this thing in the next four years.

The StartUp Health initiative is a platform that gives support to startups in the digital healthcare space across 12 countries, connecting them with networking opportunities, education and funding.

Dr. Krein also serves as Senior Director of Health Policy and Innovation at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, and is an Assistant Professor at Jefferson.

Healthcare, Technology and the Cancer Moonshot is the name of the event, hosted by PACT, which will take place at The Hub Cira Centre at 5:30 p.m.

Other panelists include:
Dr. Chi Van Dang, Director of the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine.
Dr. Angela Bradbury, Executive Director of the Abramson Cancer Center Telegenetics Program.
